Any tips for seeing whale sharks in Utila?

I used to spend a fair bit of time in Utila and always had good luck with the whale sharks when I was there in March. As an avid photographer, I always wanted to find "A guy with a boat" to take me out. While the various operators are great at sharing access by taking turns dropping divers into the area, it's still really difficult getting a shot of something as large as a whale shark without getting all sorts of random bodies in the shot.

I did find a Captain who was willing to take a private charter. That was years ago, but it might be worth looking in to if you're trying to get clean shots.
