To clarify, the Icon HD computer does not qualify as user replaceable batteries. The transmitter batteries are user replaceable. The website should reflect this shortly.

that's right, the actual description on mares site for NetReady only lists the possibility for users to change the transmitter battery, but the old IconHD was advertised with user changeable battery and also the description on website shows that. (unfortunately the old is no longer shown on site). Also the old manual says it is replaceable, "should" not "must" be replaced by an auth. reseller.
And they handle it as posted before: If opening the battery housing causes the damage they decline responsibility. Although changing battery on IconHD seems easier than on models with the named bajonett ring sealing I agree with you. Replacement by a reseller equipped for tightness testing is the best. So you can catch him if something wrong.:crafty:
