Aqua Strobe won't light up

I got an Aqua Strobe back in 2005 and used it for 2-3 battery changes till 2007.

Due to work commitments I suspended diving and put the Aqua strobe into storage without batteries installed.

Now when i am back to diving and want to use it
I installed fresh batteries in and the Aqua Strobe just won't light up.

What could be the problem or a case of cathode gone "cold"?

Emailed Princeton sometime ago but did not get a reply.
