Are there any differences between the HOG Classic and Switchback 2nd stages?

Yes, the "deflector". Its called the air pad on the schematic I have. I assumed this was originally intended to induce the venturi effect.
 
Actually it was intended to deflect more air to the mouthpiece. The venturi lever induces the venturi effect that helps to minimize the chance of free flow on the surface. However the case geometry on the newer seconds made it unnecessary.
 
Got my HOG classics on Tuesday and gave the 2nd stages (couldn't use the D1s because I'm still waiting for the conversion kits and couldn't borrow any adaptors) a try yesterday. Not fair to sing their praises so soon although I sure was impressed by their quality. Maybe it's just because but from all the photos that I'd seen, they looked to me like those cheap rental gear quality ones so I really was amazed at their build and solid feel.
