Its Glenn here at DiveGlide replying to your question of cost, We are currently in beta testing here at Golden Rock Dive Center and also at FlowBonaire. We are refining a training course we call "Test Flight" which is like a try dive, we are also working on the training for use on scuba. As DiveGlide has no moving parts the cost verses the power available is one of the benefits of DiveGlide. The gliders I am building now are hand made by me and must be positioned in locations where the maximum number of people can fly it as the only way to truly understand the experience is to do it. We are looking for those key locations where it can get exposure, if you are one of those locations or know who we should be talking to please contact me for special pricing and details. If not, please like our Face Book page DiveGlide for updates on when it will be available to the general public. Now to your question we have a target retail prices of $3,200 I cannot emphasize enough that until you try it you can not understand the experience and therefore put a value on it that's why we need them out there where people can try it. I would also tell you of all the people who have tried it say it surprised them and that it was much faster and more powerful than they expected. Its Glenn here from DiveGlide, thanks for your question, it’s a good one. Accent rate is something we put a lot of thought into as safety is one of our primary concerns. First, everyone starts their training on a glider using breath hold methods this allows the diver time to learn how to control the power of the glider before ever trying it on SCUBA. I have to say that it’s a lot of fun using it this way as you get 3 times the depth and you can go to the surface when you want to very fast! Learning to control the glider is critical to using it on SCUBA specifically for ascent rates and docking for a safety stop at the end of your dive. We have developed special profiles with hyperbaric specialists and tested them ourselves. I would point out that SCUBA on DiveGlide requires specialized training and water skills and only a handful of people have ever experienced it at this point. To answer your question directly any change in up or down force will create forward motion depending on the angle of attack on the wings, the more up or down force you have the more power and then it is just a tradeoff speed verses range. Thanks for your comment about the future potential of DiveGlide, we don’t know how Buoyancy gliding will develop in the future there are many possibilities. I think the author was just trying to point out some possibilities, and showing his enthusiasm about the potential of buoyancy gliding. If you follow the dive industry you know there is very rarely anything that is truly new most are just a new take on an older version, this is a totally new way of experiencing the underwater world. The problem with being totally new is that while people think they understand it until they actually try, it how could they possibly? We are however currently working on several training programs like the “Test Flight” beginner level “Breath Hold Buoyancy Gliding” SCUBA Buoyancy Gliding” and in the future specialties like “Reef Cruiser Buoyancy Gliding” and “Blue Water Buoyancy Gliding”. We will also have to hold a world record event soon to establish the first speed and distance records using a Buoyancy Glider. At present we are developing a group of people who will be advising and assisting in making all this happen. It would be good to have people who have a counter point on our direction as we go forward with this new sport, if you’re interested please contact me so we can discuss this more and of course you are going to have to try it out for yourself!
