Fair point but most digital measuring equipment I have seen/used still has analogue markings, maybe Simon's don't.
I tend to only use micrometers if I am interested in 0.01MM or 0.001" increments. Judging a spanner size would not be one of those times.

Never intended to make anyone feel silly. Some of us come from engineering backgrounds and some don't. I am a Heavy Duty Diesel Fitter so have done my fair share of measuring components and parts.
Aslong as someone learns then it is all good, I appreciate your thirst for knowledge and keen DIY attitude.
