Thiad, you are so right. I did the BSA camp early 80's on the island. shot my first .22 rifle, archery, kayak, snorkeling, all firsts for me. It is one of my fondest memories. except for the wild pigs eating cherries, pit and all, all night long. Did I mention they did it all night long. very loud lol.

I spent two GREAT weeks at Camp Cherry Valley, one as an assistant Scoutmaster and one as the Scoutmaster. Fell deeply in love with the island.

So did my son and many of my Scouts.

One evening I was waiting in my jeep to take several of my students into town to watch a movie in the Casino. I noticed a sow with her brood of piglets and the piglets were acting very strangely... chasing after one another, whirling around in circles, stumbling and falling. Turned out they had been eating fermented cherries on the ground and were drunk! Wish video cameras were around back then.
