Backpacking in Thailand. Should I bring dive gear?

That’s not been my experience in the 5 trips to Thailand I’ve done.
I’m glad you haven’t seen it on your trips. I have been to Thailand 5 times also, however only this last one did i dive. I dived 15 dives over the two weeks, just here and there and used a few different providers. About 5-6 different boats for memory. The mishaps i saw were on the same day with different crews.
I thought the boats and the various dive masters using the boats were very efficient and DID take care of the clients gear and their own shops gear. I just observed a few occasions behind the scenes of less than desirable handling of some gear. Again this unfortunately was from boat ‘helpers’. Maybe they were still new employees and learning the ropes.
