Tuesday, 24NOV09, James Mott will be hosting a decompression seminar at Sea The World Scuba Center in Farmington Hills, MI. The seminar, Balancing The Bubble, will take a deeper look at the mechanics of decompression. Is there really such a thing as a No-Decompression Dive? Why are we taught not to exceed a 60ft/minute ascent rate? Is the information used to determine a NDL on a computer the same as on a dive table? Maybe you’re simply thinking, What does NDL stand for again? These are just a few of the questions divers have when it comes to really understanding decompression. What is Henry’s Law, what is the bubble model, who was Haldane, Buhlmann, or even DAN? If your knowledge of decompression begins and ends with the shaking of a soda pop bottle, you will be wonderfully pleased with the Balancing the Bubble seminar.

This seminar is designed for divers of all levels and backgrounds who want to better understand what is happening inside their bodies. It will detail the multiple gas laws associated with decompression. How it affects the recreational diver as well as technical divers. It will cover Decompression Sickness (DCS) classifications, types, contributing factors, prevention and knowledge. Additionally, it will give a solid history lesson of decompression knowledge, the design of original dive tables, M-values and half-times, pros and cons to multiple theories and will give you an understanding of the commonly known dissolved phase ideology as well as explore the knowledge regarding free phase gas and new bubble models.

Balancing the Bubble is not trying to teach you how to decompression dive or even promote technical diving, but rather explores all of the current knowledge available today, compares the different models nd how they can work for you. It looks at the reality of decompression from various perspectives rarely explored in traditional training. Reef divers and wreck divers, Instructors and Dive Masters alike will appreciate the attention to detail and the friendly presentation of these often overlooked concepts. The goal is to show you how a Thinking Diver can read between the lines of traditional decompression theory and new modern models.

James Mott will be hosting the Balancing the Bubble seminar at Sea The World Scuba Center on Tuesday, 24NOV09 at 6pm.
