Single phase or 3 phase motor?
Running on 50hz?
If a 3 phase, are all phases live? And the right phase rotation?
If single phase, proberbly a faulty capacitor.
Oh and check is it's not seized first!

I have a bauer Poseidon.
It has been standing still the last 2 years.
Now I wanted to start it up.
Nothing.
Only a humming sound.

Ar there so.e things I can try before calling a specialist

this is no specialty problem.

ifyou can turnthe compressor pully the compressor is not frose. if it turns the motor then the motor is not frose. if it hums then it is what is called single phasing if run by a 3 phase motor, the num is from 2 of 3 phases working. if a 220 dingle p[hase motor or a 120 motor single phase motor it is a starting capacitor. You may want to look for bot a starting and a run capacitor preseent. they are cheap probably get them both for 20 bucks. just replace them and re evaluate. now is when the specifics come into play in getting the right capacitor.

this is the same basic problem that your outside air conditioner unit has when it hums and does nothing.
