Unless you are spearing, the need for a BFK is very small. You'll likely be way better served with a small BC knife and/or a trilobyte. Yes, do get titanium and not the coated ones. I carry shears since lionfish always on the menu and there isn't a need for a zoo keeper - thankfully my dive spots aren't infested and most don't even go on the stringer as they are too small to bother with (though i do trim the spines for the eels). The EMT shears must be cleaned after each dive day otherwise the rivet will quickly go south. I use a steel toothbrush and scotchbrite regularly and if you can get one to last 2 years though, you are doing well.
