Can anyone share pictures of the bull-shark dives in Mexico? I was told that they are as dramatic as Fiji shark feeding dives. If someone could give me more info on their bull shark dive experience Id be grateful like do they really show up or is an encounter occasional? How many sharks can you expect and how late in the season can you see them? Is May a good month for these encounters?

Cheers -

CS

The Bull Sharks are usually gone by the end of February.

Bull shark season is winter. Feeding in December-January. Numbers vary from 2 to 8, what I saw. Be careful who you go with. SOme shops say they do not feed, but they will follow the boats that do feed. The feeding boats have pretty strict rules, the others do not

Who would you recommend?

We went with Alvaro from Always Diving.
He did take along a bucket of fish heads and toss them out.

Look us up on the Inet. Diveinsurance (Dan or similar) is mandatory, preferably dark gear, and need to be able to go down fast.

We can help with setting you up. Not cheap, but very much worth it.

I have been offering Bull shark dives from my shop in Playa del Carmen for over 12 years. I never take down more than 4 divers at a time so small groups, more flexibility and longer bottom times....so more time with the sharks with a lot less divers around. Have a look at some of the shark action I get going around me. There is a right way and wrong way to lure them close. I do not use blood or fish guts for that could start a frenzy.

I also have a series of videos about the bull shark and their behavior around divers. Check that out here:
Fantasea Dive :: Bull Shark Diving 101

Whoever you go with, try to make sure it is small groups. You do not want to be down there when there's 8-12 divers or more and you have 15 to 20 bulls around you!
