For whatever reason, Caribbean destinations tend to use very hard/firm beds which hurt the 'ol back.
Sounds like Roatan is the only Caribbean place you've been to....so that's a bit of a generalization. I find the beds around the Caribbean vary from hard to soft, like anywhere.

Cozumel too. Not that I'm an expert traveler. Glad to hear some places have better beds.
