Hi all
Does any one know if a canon g16 fits in an ikelite 6146.15 g15 ikelite ttl housing?
Thanks Chris

I don't believe so as the g16 is a bit taller in body.

(I have a g15 and it doesn't fit in the g16 cases so I assume it's the same the other way around)

Thanks for your reply Hayley, I'm finding it hard to locate a used g16 ttl housing and I managed to locate a used g15 housing that I thought may work. Are you saying that your g15 won't fit in your ikelite ttl g16 housing?

Same housing for both cameras. Ikelite sell it as a G15/G16 housing, i know i just sold one.

That's what I thought but Ikelite list them as seperate part numbers! I would ask Ikelite but I would get a biased sales orientated opinion. So Toby are you dead certain?

Forgive me please i made a mistake, it was the G11/G12 housing.

I would say no because there are obvious physical differences in the control positions. So while it may technically fit in the box, you likely won't be able to do much with it. Even the shutter release looks to be longer and those Ikelite control rods are extremely hard to bend - probably impossible to re-bend. Plus you certainly lose the functionality of those top two buttons nearest the latch on the G-16 since they're not on the G-15 housing. If this is the same size housing, it's obvious that that lower selector knob on the right side is also much closer to the edge on the G16 housing so whatever it does probably won't work either.
but I would get a biased sales orientated opinion.
I'm pretty sure if you contact their rep here or thru their website that's not going to happen. What would be the point?

Yeah I have a g15, and was having a hard time finding casings (as its such an old camera) so took it into a camera shop specialising in underwater stuff and tried it in -all- the g16 cases. No luck. The g16 is a slightly different sized camera.

As a friendly warning, Ikelite housings with strobe connectors of this kind are prone to flooding. The steel port that you screw your strobe handle to is secured on the inside with a nut. But instead of using a 2nd nut to fix it solidly Ikelite secures it with a sticky plastic hexagonal fastener which goes around the nut and sticks to the inner bottom of the housing . If the plastic fastener gets unstuck, the wiggling of the strobe can unwind the steel nut and water leaks in. It probably won't happen if you fix the strobe to both ports, like in the photo. But if you strobe can only be screwed to one port, you are at risk.
