Can one have Dive Instructor status from more than one agency?

I think it's kind of like dual citizenship. Most countries (but not all by a long shot) permit you to be a citizen of as many other countries as you like. But, similar to dive agencies, each country or agency you are a pro with only considers your status with them. The others are irrelevant to them.
