I'm planning a trip to Cancun in October (only time we can make schedules work). I realize weather is questionable but we'll make the gamble. My question is regarding rooms. We are probably going to stay at the gran caribe (real resorts). I've read a lot of reviews and see it's common for them to tell you your room isn't ready for an hour (or several) and try to get you to upgrade. So...here's the question: Would it be wise to just book a cheaper room and plan to upgrade? Seems that would avoid some hassle but would like to hear from others that have done so or at least been to the cancun hotel zone.
