Hi,

What place has better diving- Cape Town or Durban? Cape Town has the seals and ship wrecks and apparently dolphins and whales sometimes, but I was told these days it’s unlikely to see the cow shark (and also great whites aren’t seen much anymore when cage diving). I heard good things about Durban but not sure how it compares.

Which one would you pick? Thx!

If your main focus is diving Kwazulu natal is more interesting. Rent a car at Durban, drive south to Umkomaas to dive with black tips sharks and raggies. Drive a bit further south to Margate to dive Protea banks, for bull and tiger sharks. Drive north to Sodwana Bay to do coral/sub tropical diving. So, I'd pick Durban, but you should be prepared to drive few hundred kms.
