All shore dives for the most part will be at Casino Point. Look at the "Catalina Island Info" thread in this forum. That will tell you a lot about diving on the island. Note that this time of year and on weekdays you may not have many other divers available.

There is good diving at the dive park. If the sun is shining there should be other divers. Plenty of life, including 3 real big black sea bass. Bring a camera, lots to see above & below the surface. Bring a 7mil or drysuit, or you can rent wet suits & gear on the island. NOTE: Some of the restaurants already have the gratuities included in the check.

You could see if one of the dive shops would have a DM for you or could find you a buddy. I wish I could be there but work beckons...
We snorkeled there at the point and also at lovers cove when my buddy could not dive, it was fun...not as fun a scuba but still fun.
