Okay. We've been to Catalina numerous times. We usually "splurge" and stay at Hamilton Cove. However, prices have gone up and we thought perhaps we'd try someplace more reasonable and stay longer. We'd like a kitchen (or kitchenette, whatever in the heck that is) and bathroom. Diver friendly would be nice. Got any recommendations? Any places to definitely avoid? What about The Hermosa cottages? Or La Paloma? We're going the end of September for 5-6 days, depending on $$.
Thanks!

Sactomags,

There are a few hotels over on Catalina then are diver friendly. They also offer packages from the mainland that includes the boat over, a couple of nights stay, and diving package. I highly suggest you check out http://www.catalina.com and you should be able to get enough info. If you go in September you may be able to negotiate the "low season" rates from some of the hotels.

My own personal preference is Seaport village. Raul and crew are very helpful, it sits up on the hill overlooking the harbor and is away from the crowds. It is middle of the road for pricing but very nice accomodations including a full kitchen.

Good luck, I hope you enjoy your stay. It is a fantastic dive off the island.
