We're just a little over four weeks away from Chamber Day 2014 and while that sounds like plenty of time, it will come upon us quickly.

It's important to remember that our Chamber is an ongoing 24/7/365 operation. It’s not like the only time anything is happening there is when there's a dive accident to be dealt with. This all takes money to run.

The operational phrase is "ready to respond." To be ready at a moment's notice, that means the volunteer Chamber crew has to constantly train and do practice treatments so they can be at their peak when it's for real. That means they have to be transported over to the island and back, need to be housed, and need to be fed. Supplies are used, equipment is run, and all of that needs to be replenished or maintained.

Even little routine things require attention. It was noticed that the large hangers doors weren't closing properly and it turns out the rollers on them had rusted out so a maintenance crew had to be called out to replace the rollers. (To make it more complicated, the rollers are at the top of the tall doors.)

Your contributions to our Chamber help pay for all of this, not just the times when treatments are needed. The key thing is keeping our Chamber ready to go. Whether there are no accidents or an accident-a-day, our Chamber stands at the ready.

Hopefully this is something that has value to you and you're willing to pitch in with financial support. You can do that on our donation page at: https://secure.www.alumniconnection...nts/event_order.cgi?tmpl=events&event=2361906.
