While the current entry requirements are quite convenient - an e-visa in advance or a visa on arrival (VOA) this all changes effective October 01. From that date forward, Canadians need to get a VV from an Egyptian Embassy or Consulate. If you already have an e-visa for entry after October 1st, it is invalid, but possibly refundable.
The cost for a single entry VV is C$150. Processing time is 7-10 business days at the moment. We asked the Embassy about the 180 day multi entry visas but were told that these are no longer offered. On the TripAdvisor Egypt forum, however, a poster had indicated that a multi entry visa could be obtained for $C210. Not sure if this is reliable. If you are sending your documents by mail, you need to enclose a money order. Documents required include one visa application per traveler, two ppt photos, and proof of accommodation and travel.
The sudden change in visitor visa policy is unclear and Egyptian nationals have required a visitor visa for many years.
In any case, Canadians will now want to build in some extra time to planning process to avoid being jammed with a short deadline.
