I understand that the OTC motion sickness meds Dramamine and Bonine are essentially antihistimines. I also know they can be sedating. Is there any evidence to indicate that Claritin (or something similar) would be effective in preventing motion sickness, or is it the sedative effect on the CNS that is responsible for their effectiveness?

Thanks

There is no information that shows that Claritin has any effect on the inner ear.

It specifically is an H1 blocker and blocks histamine without crossing the blood/brain barrier, thereby causing little sedation. It has very little in the way of anticholinergic activity, as does scopolamine and Meclizine.
