Do any of you more experienced divers have a way of rigging a small flashlight (or other commonly used piece of gear) so that it snugs up against your BCD when not in use, but is conveniently available when needed?

Goodman handle for primary. Backup has lanyard around right wrist with light turned back on inside of wrist and tucked under computer straps. (Bungee). Clean. Easy to get and never in the way. Knife goes same configuration on left hand under compass straps.

Do you have a picture of this?

Some items chosen from each of these, plus a bicycle inner tube to cut up for rubber bands, and you should have everything you need. Other than possibly a BCD with well-placed D-rings and a way to add the rubber bands to its shoulder straps and waist belt.

Premium Stainless Steel Snaps | Dive Gear Express® for bolt snaps

Surgical Tubing & Bungee Cord | Dive Gear Express® for bungee cord (aka shock cord)

White Nylon Line, Bulk Spool for cave line

Bringing up an old post, but an additional question. Typically, what size bolt snaps and shock cord do you use for different applications? And what size nylon line when just attaching bolt snaps? Lots of options...

@tdallen
bolt snaps are as small as practical given your exposure protection. I.e. bigger with gloves on. Many use butterfly clips for bottom attachment points for sidemount and stage bottles but that is about it for those

1/8 bungee often used for suicide straps/necklaces, computers, etc.
3/16 used by some people for loops of stuff, I don't use it.
1/4 used for hose retainers and stuff on stage bottles, also some attachment points on stage/sidemount bottles, and sidemount loop bungees

most of us use line taken off of our spools to tie stuff and as cave divers it is usually #24. #36 is too thick for most stuff in my opinion. A little goes a long way here and most spools come with WAY too much line on them, so just buy a cheap spool that you'll use for other stuff and by the time you unwind enough to make it usable you'll have more line to tie knots with than you'll need
