You are correct...the port is the standard L & M "wide angle zoom-macro" lens. I used that port exclusively, with one of our (ReefNet's) +10 SubSee Adapters/Lenses for super-macro work. As an aside, if your friend would like a SubSee kit, I can add it on at the wholesale pricing...
Regarding shipping, since I'm about an hour from the US border (Toronto), I would drive it across myself to ship to a US buyer. So no customs issues at all, and the shipping would be domestic UPS or Fedex Ground.
