This could be it.

You know those little plastic/cheramic whistles, shaped as nesting birds, that you can pour a little water in to produce a chirping kind of whistle?

known since the middle ages, in my language they're known as, what roughly translates as, butt-peeping-birds

anyhow ...

THey work underwater if you blow hard enoug. Go on and try. It's a barrel of laughs (as long as you remember to purge when you switch to reg - your lungs will be clear of even dead air space I promise).

- Maximizes alveolae oxygen intake.
- Shark repellant.
- Guaranteed to surprise and delight your buddy or client.
- Adds a festive quality to your open water rescues.
- For long distance signaling attach to high pressure hose.

Essential equipment.

Suggestions for other essential pieces?

If I did this right here are some pics of the cheramic type. Hunting for pics on the net I came across rumors of a peeping-butt-horse as well but figured it too ... unwieldly ... for diving purposes.

Danish name is "piv-i-røv-fugl".

"Fugl" means bird - the rest I'll leave to your own imagination.
