Amazing first trip to Curacao. Spent 5 days a Marazule and rented 2 days of tanks from Dive'N http://www.dive-n-curacao.de and did two dives with them one night and one day. All my other dives I rented from the local operations on the beach. If anyone is staying at Marazul I recommend them as they are almost in the parking are for the apartments and very friendly. We dove off the steps at Marazul 4 times and found it to be a great house reef. I visited Playa Grandi, Playa Forti, Cas Abou and Porto Marie. Before I went I thought I'd dive more but long bottom times on most kept me happy doing 2 or three a day. Not sure I could pick one favorite but Marie was easy and I saw tons of eels, crabs and shrimp so maybe I'd pick that. I'm not one for text reports so I'll leave you with a few bad photos lol. I did buy a new camera after this trip because the GoPro isn't doing my trips justice anymore.

A little over two years ago we tried to book at our usual lodging choice of All West. Unfortunately by the time I tried booking there was no availability. Instead we booked at a place at Marazul. We really enjoyed our stay there but missed the convenience of having a dive facility on or near the complex. Great to know that there are more options now. The dive in front of the complex was my favorite; great visibility, short swim out to reef and amazing marine life.

Love Marazul but we stay at the Lodge Kura Hulanda timeshare located in Westpunt Curacao. Can't beat the Lodge's house reef Alice in Wonderland also known as "Playa Kalki" and the dive operator next door, "Go West Diving" owned by the All West Apartments facility just down the road. If only wishes were candy and nuts.. Lots of good dining locations in that are that can be walked if you didn't want to hire a vehicle. No real need to boat dive since the shore diving is easy, safe, and beautiful. One week isn't enough to dive all the sites in Westpunt Area "Banda Bou".

How does the diving in Curacao compare to Bonaire? (Haven't been to either location)

I loved Bonaire diving before hurricane Lenny flattened the shallow areas, sea fans, stag and elk horn corals wiped out. That was in the Mid 1980's. At that time I was going every year. But after the storm I was so disappointed and almost depressed about what Lenny left behind we tried Curacao. In its heyday Bonaire ruled, now Curacao is a better choice for us. Better beaches, restaurants and just more to do when not diving. Tons of beaches with great shore diving. Not so much like Bonaire where the dive sites are really a long strip strip of the same reef with different names every 200 yards or so. Wish the past could be resurrected.

Been to bon 4x and cur last Jan. Heading back to cur in a couple weeks. They are both excellent. Like them both. Right now cur less expensive for us to fly to.

. We stayed at Allwest last Jan and loved it. Does not look like much from the road and not for everyone but for divers it is perfect. Where else can you be waterfront, dive op and house reef for the price. We are staying at Allwest again. It does seem to be getting more popular though and more difficult to find a room, especially if you don't plan in advance.

Thats why I ended up at Marazul last time. Honestly I've tried to book a Bon trip but the prices just make Curacao the winner. I'm headed back at the end of the month. Trying a different part of the island this time and staying at Blue Bay. 3 bed home 100 meters from the beach for 120usd a night. I'm okay driving west if I find the diving isn't as good.

+1. Had to book ours in September -- for April.

In all fairness, however, Sand Dollar on Bonaire has all that and only a dozen stairs to the water. As do the rest of them on that road I believe.
