The trip...
Fly into Maumere in Flores and after a short journey enjoy your check out dive on the island of Babi. This is a good opportunity to get your eyes hunting for small creatures like hidden frogfish and colourful nudibranchs.
Dive in Waiwewong on the west coast of Lembata. This muck diving haven is set against the backdrop of the volcanos that line these islands. Rhino City is named for the much sought after Lacy Scorpionfish.
Beangabang is a small village on the south east coast of Pantar and an iconic macro dive destination. With a mixture of reef slope and black sand there are plenty of critters and juveniles to enjoy.
Once we arrive in Alor the entertainment continues with children from the local villages. The morning dives are on current rich reefs like The Cathedral and Tanjung Ela Lara. So keep your eyes open for pelagics before moving into Kalabahi Bay to dive the black sand slope at Mucky Mosque for the afternoon and night dive.
The volcano island of Pura will send visiting ladies selling their unique weaving. The current rich waters around the island have a variety of dives; Valley of the Clowns with its carpets of anemones; Pak Jans Village as a cool macro dive and Mandarin Wall for a dusk dive.
The north coast of Lembata offers some great wall diving on Tanjung Bacatan. Keep your eyes open for passing pelagic or hunt for macro on the wall. This is followed by an afternoon dive on the live volcano of Komba. Watch this fireworks spectacle as the sun sets.
