I may be going to DEMA 2020, in New Orleans, but it will probably be my last.

DEMA is dying in a slow, sad death spiral. The internet has killed it. There are fewer and fewer venders each year and very few deals to be had. I will really miss it, when it finally admits it's time is done. It won't be the first major show to close.

DEMA attendees (IMHO) fall into 2 categories.
A) Those looking to shop on site
B) Those looking to learn and make face to face connections.

Most major purchases are "started" at DEMA but not always hand a check over at the show. They go back to their shop with an over whelming load of information they learned, talk to customers and then followup with adding a new line or program and install the marketing program with onsite help from the local rep. You may buy a small addition to your store on the floor.

But talking face to face with a vendor owner / Tech / Specialist of a company gives you a level of trust that you just can't get over the internet. I learn so much from talking to people and meeting new experts that I can later bounce questions off of to make sure my direction is correct. Some of the store marketing program seminars have DOUBLED sales in a year for a dive shop because they trusted the people they met face to face.

If your bored at the show and stop learning, your competition will kill you quickly.

I'm never bored. It's just that there are fewer and fewer vendors AND, the cost to attend has skyrocketed.
 
Thanks. So from the looks of it, the new version has a hex end on the second stage portion. What/where is the "side lock"?
The hex end was moved from a position opposite the binding screw, to a position at right angles to it, and a land was carved into the binding screw. Now, the tolerance for a "too loose" binding screw is zero, and the 90° mount of the locking hex means that its adjustment is less critical: it just needs to jut into the screw land.

they need to open dema to Public and the venues will be packed again.
