Thanks for the info. I just got back from a 2 week vacation in Destin. Your pictures are great, especially of the hogfish. I think the slingjaw is an adaptation for instantaneously sucking in prey. I've seen just one hogfish in Destin, but I only snorkel. In addition to the slipper lobsters, do you ever see spiny lobsters offshore Destin?

how are the Jack Cravelle's to eat? (I've wondered in the past).

I didn't know if they were good either. Luckily, I was close enough to shore to use my cell phone and I called a buddy who is an experienced fisherman. As soon as I said "Jack Cravelle", he said, "throw it back."

In 6 years of diving Destin, I have seen 1 spiney (the season was over. . . and it had eggs).
