My cave instructor says I need an analyzer before full cave. I'll probably buy one before AN/DP.

You're missing the point...two becomes none...if an inherent defect affects both computers of the same make and model...
You do realise we're talking about Shearwaters here?

Shearwater has had their problems along with most other dive computer manufacturers...they are not the be-all...end-all...Don't get me wrong...I like anything Canadian...but still not two of the same computers...Shearwater...or anybody else...

Did you catch that I’m actually doing AN/DP/Helitrox? Likely 21/20 for class, going off someone who took same class with same instructor earlier this year. I could be doing some topping off myself off the singles filled with air I’ve got at home. Or getting top offs with air at a much closer shop than DRIS that only does air, not even nitrox. Transfill whip is on my list anyway since I got my VIP cert a few months ago.

I’ve got two sets of doubles and have a decent number of dives on them.

Given my situation, instructor said Trimix analyzer would be a good idea. Talked to him yesterday.

I get narced bad at 130ft and with the conditions I dive in, Helitrox was recommended by a number of people.
You need an O2 analyzer when you leave nitrox class and long before AN/DP.

Whether you have 10, 20, or 40% helium really isnt that important. And you have a buddy in trimix class right? There is your backup brain, backup gauge and reserve gas all in one.

I don’t know of anyone locally who has their own analyzer who isn’t tech certified or a recreational instructor. You analyze at the shop.

No buddy for my class. I’m doing a private class. I don’t have anyone to take it with, anyway.

Yea sorry I have no idea how you're supposed to have at least one or two reliable buddies to practice and dive with if you take a private class.
