Lake Travis, 14 June 2015

The water level is almost back to normal. The first platform off of the middle stairs is at about 18 feet. The second platform is at about 60 ft.

Visibility to 0-35 feet depth was 8 feet, 35-81 feet <1 foot.

Temp 0 to 20 feet lower 80s, 81 feet, 65 degrees.

Mansfield Dam - June 23, 2015

Temp: 78 degrees at surface; 68 degrees at 75ft.
Viz: 7-10ft.

Spring Lake, San Marcos, June 24, 2015

They had us clean the Headwaters. Difficult place to work due to the small size of the sites (the vis drops rapidly and navigation between site is difficult). Finished the dive at Cream of Wheat. Due to the high flow, 350cfs, most of the subsurface algae has been blown out of the sand. Along the edges, you can now remove buried clumps of vegetation the size of basket balls. The sustained high flow conditions have significantly "loosened" the sand at COW.

All the sand bags have been removed from the base of the diversion pipe and the salamander capture net has also been removed. Now you can see pretty far into Diversion at the risk of having your mask being blown off your head.

288 Lake, 12 July. 86 degree water temp above the thermocline (which was at about 18 ffw), viz 5-7'.

What was noticeable was the lack of hydrilla. In the past year or two there have been huge walls of it. We covered much of the eastern side of the lake on an 80 min dive and didn't come across any.

Canyon Lake on Sunday, 7/12:

Viz is quite limited at both Overlook and North Point due to continued runoff from the river.

Viz at both places around 5 feet, getting very dark below the thermoncline (~ 30 feet). Without a dive light, we couldn't see a single thing.

Temps ran from ~ 83 on the surface to ~ 75 at depth (~ 90 feet).

STAR REEF at VA FOGG / LIBERTY SHIP REEF 36 MILES OFF FREEPORT

Temperatures at depth 79 degrees.

Mild current at surface, strong current between 5 and 60 feet, no current 60 feet plus. Descent line off of the rear of the vessel to the rig legs is a necessity.

Visibility was only about 40 to 50 feet above 95 feet which was disappointing since our last trip to this area was 80+.

Usual fish, plus queen angles, stingray, and many many lionfish.

On our next trip out to this area we will be running a lionfish specific charter.

Shaw Freighter at VA Fogg / Liberty Ship Reef 36 Miles off Freeport

Temperatures at depth 78 degrees.

Mild current at surface and at depth.

Visibility 60 feet + above 90 feet. 10 feet between 90 and 95 feet and 20 feet between 95 and 110 feet.

Eliminated 15 lionfish. Observed the usual fish plus queen angles, ling, barracuda.
