Yeah, they have those signs out, "Will dive for food". Sometimes they're just on the benches, dressed in their dive gear using a newspaper for a blanket. I needed a buddy, and made the mistake. "Food" really meant money, and you can guess what they spent it on. A cheap airfill and a 12 pack! I called when they started littering in the underwater park at Catalina, but the police didn't seem to understand me.

Okay, so me and some buddies decided to have some fun with some of the garbage I wound up picking up, rather than letting it completely piss me off. Any other candid photos of dive hobos out there?

These would be out of work instructors,or instructors that don't get paid to teach.
Please, help them out and hire them as buddies.

I never thought of this angle for marketing but it must be working...I'll design a distinctive specialty around it.

Hell,cheap tank fill and a 6 pack...worth it.I have seen dm's work for a meal or two beer..or both,not kidding.

I think I might try this in another part of the world.

Ah, this thread died too soon. So, I was out diving, it wasn't exactly a hobo. This was a dive beatnik. Oh, wait, that was me. As I recall, I got paid, its all fuzzy now, something to do with being in the San Diego OB area where everyone was either drunk or on drugs. My recollection is that I was helping with a class, I don't think I got anythign for playing the bongos.

Come on, I can't be the only one getting photos like this of myself. I just wish I had that picture where I'm on one of the concrete benches at Casino point wearing my wetsuit and having a newspaper blanket.
