Icarus Aviation operates the Nautilus Explorer and the Nautilus Swell boats, a luxury liveaboard scuba diving vessels specializing in pampering small groups of scuba divers on unique diving adventures up and down the west coast of North America from Alaska to Mexico and beyond. Position Summary
The Dive Master is responsible for the safety, well-being and enjoyment of the diving experience of all guests according to company procedures working closely with the entire boat crew under the supervision of the Captain.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
All duties and responsibilities are to be performed in accordance with Icarus Aviation’s standards, guidelines, policies and procedures.

Each employee conducts oneself in a professional and courteous manner at all times. This consists of physical and verbal interactions with guests or fellow shipboard employees and/or in the presence of guest contact and crew areas.

1. Provide excellent diving experience to our guests by knowing their dive requirements, special requests, assess their needs and ensure guest satisfaction with dives offered.
2. Conducts dive briefings, guide and supervise guest divers during day and (if required) night dives, point out interesting marine life and assist divers during emergency situations in or out of the water.
3. Assist guest divers with setting up dive gear, gearing up and down before and after every dive, washing wetsuits, dive
4. Plan the day’s diving itinerary together with the Captain and the dive team.
5. Responsible for tank filling, daily compressor and filter maintenance,
6. Maintain and repair personal and company scuba equipment and gear rentals.
7. Maintain the dive deck and dive areas neat, clean, organized and washed down.
8. Entertain, have meals and socialize with the guest divers throughout the cruise
9. When in the dinghy alongside the platform perform a final gear check before pulling away for every dive.
10. On arrival at the dive site, do a count-down before back-roll entry for the dive
11. Ensure that Nautilus lifelines (GPS units) and related equipment are maintained, charged, issued and used correctly as explained during guests’ first dive safety briefing
12. Assure a safe and suitable entry site and take notice of current direction and other environmental conditions that may affect the dive before entry
13. Keep a log of all conducted dives
14. Performs related duties as required. This position description in no way states or implies that these are the only duties to be performed by the shipboard employee occupying this position. Shipboard employees will be required to perform any other job-related duties assigned by their supervisor or management.

Preferred Qualities
For recruitment and HR purposes, ideal candidate will have the following qualities.
· Friendly and flexible personality
· Trouble-shooter who enjoys the challenge of finding solutions to difficult and often unpredictable situations
· Natural team player who can work closely with the Captain and the rest of the boat team
· Certified, renewed and insured PADI Instructor
· Minimum of 500 logged dives
· Diving experience on liveaboards
· Able to work independently in remote locations
· Non-smoker
