3:55 PM— A man has gone missing in uptown Columbus.

Columbus fire department special operations were dispatched to the river walk near the popular restaurant 11th and bay.

Several witnesses say the man, went in to the water and then was having trouble getting back on land when he disappeared.

Check back for updates as this story develops.

6:41 PM— The man missing is a white male in his 20’s from Warner Robins.

He was scuba diving or snorkeling with a group of friends when he lost control.

A witness tried to help the man out of the water, but was unsuccessful.

Columbus Fire and Recovery was dispatched around 2:25 pm along with search and rescue helicopters. Emergency responders continue to search for the missing man.

His name will be released when the family is notified.

Definitely not a DPV or at least I would think not. I did some commercial diving on the whitewater project for that river and know about where this happened. Vis in that river is usually 5' at best and max depth I've ever found in that area is 26'. No clue how he "lost control", probably misinformation.
