Search continues for missing diver
A search for a missing diver between Walmer and St Margaret's-at-Cliffe is continuing.

Walmer RNLI was launched at 12.50pm to look for the missing person who was believed to have been diving in a pair.

Having searched the water surface for more than three hours, they returned to the station on The Strand to switch crews at around 4pm.

Walmer RNLI launched at midday

The second crew stood down at 5.20pm.

A spokesman said: "We were paged at 12.50pm for a missing diver between Walmer and St Margarets and launched straight away.

"Dover Lifeboat was also launched as well as two search and rescue Coastguard helicopters."

Lifeboat crews from Dover and Dungeness and the Coastguard continue to look for the diver this evening.

Unconfirmed reports suggest the diver is a man and he entered the water around 11.25am.

He was diving with partner to a wreckage near the patrol memorial at St Margaret's-at-Cliffe.

A Coastguard spokesman said at 7.30pm that the operation was continuing. It is thought the search was called off at 9pm.
