As someone who does most of his diving at high altitude, I have long been interested in the impact that altitude has on diving. I know people who say it has no effect whatsoever, but decompression experts almost universally disagree. I believe any diver who dives at high altitudes should be aware of the issues involved so they can make informed decisions about their diving.

Almost all of my high altitude diving requires me to drive to even higher elevations when I am done, something done thousands of times a year by divers around the world. To what extent is such driving safe? That is a question frequently asked in ScubaBoard discussions.

I have written a blog post that introduces the issues related to diving and altitude. That blog post's primary purpose is to introduce two more detailed articles about that. These are currently the first two articles on my resources page.

I hope some of the information in these articles is helpful.
