Hi all
I've recently been under investigation for a brain aneurysm, they have found that I don't have a full saccular aneurysm but I do have a 2mm triangular dilation that they believe could be the start of an aneurysm. I don't have any sympotms I was just screened as last summer my mum had a ruptured aneurysm.
I've called my local GP today but they don't know if it's safe to dive or not and it could take ages till I hear back from the specialist so just wondered if anyone on here had had anything similar or any advice.
Thanks :)

Hi EvilKitty,

Diving has the potential to increase blood pressure in some individuals, especially those with underlying hypertension. Hypertension is to be avoided in those at increased risk of cerebral aneurism. However, as the article linked by @cerich suggests, if you're cleared for full physical activity, it's unlikely that diving would do anything additional to aggravate your condition. This should not be interpreted as a clearance to dive though; if your GP is unable to clear you, it would be best to await word from the neurologist.

Best regards,
DDM
