Do I need a Zoom Gear for RDX-600d?

I'm buying the Canon 600D that comes with the standard EFS 18-55mm lense.

I'm going to be getting RDX-600d housing with the flat port. Do I need to buy the zoom ring as well?

Yes, you definitely need the zoom gear, if you want to zoom the lens underwater, and I hope you do! :) - Scott
