Does DiveAssure want any business?

I'm looking for trip+dive insurance and have used DiveAssure in the past.

It appears that they've changed their website since the last time I've used it, and is nearly unusable now. I've sent my opinion and questions to them, but after 10 days of not hearing back, I'm posting this.

First, if you go to http://diveassure.com (without the www) - which should, by any reasonable expectation, take you to the DiveAssure site - you go to a commercial Chinese trading post site called AliExpress, perhaps a subsidiary of Alibaba? Yes, I've tried on four browsers on three PCs/mobile devices. It's the same. In fact, my phone won't even go to the DiveAssure site when I google it and click the link - it goes straight to AliExpress.

Second, if you 'correct' the mistake and put in the www, you get to the DiveAssure site (but only on a PC - I'm unable to get my phone to the main site at all). Even my brand new work laptop can barely display the page - with an unnecessary background video of a manta ray - which chews up the processor while the cursor crawls toward a link.

Trying to get a quote is an exercise in exasperation. A slick-looking 'mobile' interface with over-rendered dropdowns and text entry fields crawls to a stop, and I actually haven't completed a quote yet. The whole time I'm using it, my PC is struggling to display the page.

Finally, I'm not sure if the site is hacked or what - but even if I was able to price and choose a plan, I'd be very wary about sending my credit card information to it. How could they allow the domain (diveassure.com) to not even land on their site, but be hijacked somewhere else?

Does anyone else see these problems at all?

Well, first of all I went to the website you had posted above, but my firewall would not let me get there because it was a high risk website, so I backed out and googled "DiveAssure". Googles first hit was the DiveAssure website which looks like the one I've seen every time I've ever been there (it came up as a website I had a cookie on, so I know I've been there before, but it's been long enough ago I can't remember). Yes, I get the Manta Ray, and yes, it's annoying that people think we all have high speed connections and a ton of RAM, and they don't optimize their sites for mobile devices, but that's just life in the free world, where everyone gets cable internet and rund brand new machines.

I'm running Firefox on a Mac running Yosemite with 48 gig of RAM. I'm connected to a satellite modem at 9.6k baud. The site works fine for me.

When I google DiveAssure using Chrome on my mobile device, the first result - which appears to be the legitimate DiveAssure URLs, with the proper subcategories - goes to the 'danger' site. That's true even if I click "Insurance Programs" or "Contact Us," etc. In fact, there appears to be absolutely no way to get to the legitimate site using my Chrome browser. Even if I type "www.diveassure.com" in, I go to the compromised page. The same is true on my mobile Firefox browser. In short, there is literally no way for me to view the legit DiveAssure site on my phone.

Would you put your credit card into a site whose domain seems to have been compromised? I wouldn't. Hard to believe they wouldn't reply to a question about that after ten days.

The last time I used the site was around March I think. So I understand that for more frequent visitors, what's there now looks familiar. It was brand new to me.

You do have a ton of RAM. Just not so much bandwidth. How do you even access the web on a 96k connection? No wonder you haven't replied to my email...

Since Monday, I've been trying to get a quote. Have been on two PCs and two mobile devices with at least two different browsers on each. When I select my country, "where do you dive," and single/multi-trip option, and click Submit, I get a screen that says {{data}}, twice. That's it. Can't get a quote. I sent an email through the site when I made my first post, and have not heard a peep back. And this week, I've repeatedly tried to call them - I get voice prompts, and then it just tells me to leave a message when I choose to speak to someone (their hours are 9-5 and I called at 2). I left a message and never received a call back. As far as I know, those (web site and phone) are the only two channels for getting insurance through DiveAssure - and neither seem to work. It makes me wonder if they're even accepting new business or are otherwise having major problems.

    ---------- Post added September 2nd, 2015 at 01:14 PM ----------

Coincidence - just after I posted, I got a phone call from (Private Number), and it was DiveAssure. I recounted my website issues and was told that, "yea, we got a new site, and...IT tells us a lot of people are having issues." But of course, no way to fix it, other than "clear your cookies" (which didn't work). She volunteered to send me some information from her "personal email". I really have no idea what to think.

I am using a MAC and the site appears fine today.

Looking for anyone with experience with Diveassure? I have been a member of DAN since inception but have read some articles regarding the primary/secondary issues. It appears that Diveassure cannot provide Dive Insurance to US residents diving locally, but overseas trips are covered. Particularly looking at the Travel Insurance aspect but also interested in the Dive Insurance and overlap with DAN on overseas emergencies?

DAN Travel Insurance(CSA) has some limitations(exclusions) that do not cover my travel to the extent I would like.

I have used Dive Assure for several years, the last time in September for my vacation to Grenada. I don't find their website to be particularly user friendly. Since I live outside of the continental US, I called them and had no problems getting my insurance.

Once again, DiveAssure seems to want no business. The high-definition, continuously looping video - on the very first page - has brought my browsers to a screeching halt. An astonishing 9 megabytes of media, graphics, and HTML on the front page, compounded by a bevy of bad URL requests. Add to that a weird pop-up that continually asks your language preference on every page (but which disappears before you can complete it).

Then on the following page, when I attempt to choose a start date for coverage, I can scroll through the months and years, but clicking on a day does not populate the box. The calendar chooser simply sits there. I figured I could manually type the date, and eventually was able to do so by typing it in the form 22-June-2016.

But then another popup, which says in indecipherable English:

"Some member doesn't have any matching travel programs. Contact customer service"

Refreshing the page and going through the motions again seemed to work (I didn't get the message again) but clicking "Get a quote" does absolutely nothing.

Seriously, who designs this? I was literally about to bite the bullet on an annual trip insurance plan, but looks like I'll be going with DAN or another provider.

No problems here. Maybe your browser was hijacked? Do you have have antivirus software? I was trying to get a quote for a single trip insurance for Tubbataha but apparently I can't get one because I already live in the Philippines....
