Get thee to a doctor. Have it checked out and get it treated. IMHO, that is the only way to be safe.

Yup, get it checked by a :doctor: doctor.

It is possible that it would be a real problem, even in just 12 feet. And be sure to get the doctor to sign off on diving with it if you are cleared to go ahead and dive. Get the form from your instructor.
