Please let me chime in here as well. The EXP was never meant to be an extreme regulator, used is extreme environments, from its inception it was meant to serve the warm water, sport diving market. What does this mean? 1. There is no environmental sealing option for this regulator, if you wish later to make it environmentally sealed it will be exceptionally difficult if not impossible to get the parts to do so and expensive, so if you wish to have that option consider the EPIC or one of the HOGs. 2. Same goes for DIN connectors, it is sold only as a yoke connection so if later you decided you want to change over to a DIN connection it might be difficult, impossible, and or expensive to do so. 3. The EXP uses a 1/2 metal and 1/2 plastic air barrel instead of a full metal one as is the case in the EPIC and the all of the HOG 2nd stages, incidentally this air barrel is also used in the Escape octo. The composite barrel works great but does not retain heat or moisture from the divers exhaled breath so it is not ideally suited to continuous cold water diving. This barrel was chosen to keep weight and cost of the second in the Octopus and our Sport warm water regulator down.
Don't get me wrong, the EXP is a great regulator but lately I have seen some users who seem to be buying it on price without realizing some of the limitations of this model then being disappointed when it is not easily converted or changed later on.
