I am going to the galapagos in 2 weeks. Will my express tech 24lb wing be enough with a 7mm (rental) suit? I've used it with a 5mm suit and no problems. Should I rent a steel tank? I have a camera setup that adds a few lbs.

thanks,

It could be marginal if you get very deep and compress the suit. A steel tank will only move weight from your belt to your back. The amount of weight you need does not really change between steel and AL. I would make a guestimate that you will need 20-22# in salt water which does not leave much lift in reserve. I used to dive a 6.5 mil Farmer John in fresh water with a steel tank and needed 22# of lead. If I got to deep, 80-100', getting positive was a little iffy.

better to go 5mm and tuff it out?
