February Dive- New Smyrna or drive an additional 1 1/2 hours to West Palm Beach?

Staying in Orlando in February and want to take a day trip for a dive. I'm guessing West Palm is a better place to dive, but it would mean a 3 hour drive instead of 1 1/2 hours. That probably means leaving at around 5 in the morning, which doesn't sound too attractive on vacation. Anyone experienced in the area with advice?
