I go to some spots 3 to 4 times a year and harvest as much as 50 pounds each time,we see far less than 1% with any bite marks.I am at 1900+ fish for 2300 pounds so far this year. They get thicker and more widely distributed from NC to N FL every year.

I’ve seen them hunted and fed to lobsters by guides. If I start getting followed by lobster I’m doing it wrong and I should probably invest in a big mesh bag!

What's the general consensus on the practice of feeding newly-speared Lionfish to other fish?

I have observed 1st hand what you have. I do not agree with feeding them to other fish. Kill them and drop them.
