Hi everyone,

Just wondering if anyone has been to Fiji in July? We're going to Viti Levu and could only choose between Rakiraki or Beqa Lagoon and not both. I heard the wind at Rakiraki in July can be quite strong and boats won't go out to Bligh water if the wind is too strong. We have 5 divers with us so I think number of divers wouldn't be an issue.

My main question would be if we can't go out to the dive sites in Bligh water, will the surrounding sites nearer to the resort be worth it? Note that we're from Indonesia, so we've set our bar a little bit higher.

If so should we not risk it and go to Beqa lagoon instead? We're hoping to see amazing soft corals and swim throughs in Fiji. Also we're also doing the shark dive, we just couldn't decide to head north or south afterwards.

Thank you!

The reefs close in at Rakiraki are similar to the reefs near Beqa. We were there last week and were able to get to the Bligh most days but that was the beginning of Fall not Winter like July when the trades will be blowing pretty steadily. There are swim throughs in Beqa such as Golden Arches. That time of year Beqa may be a better bet and you can do their shark dive. Most of our group did it two days and can't wait to return to do it again.
