Just got back from a week on Maui and found this little guy in about 45' of water off of Ulua.

It is a fluing gunard also called a helmut ganard. Nice find though. We don't see them all that often out here.

If you like the Flying Gurnard you might like this short video I shot of one at night over here on Maui. We saw it on one of my dives at Ulua Beach last summer. It was really cool to see it fly up into the water column with the pitch black background.
