I discovered that if the predator is powered on in external CC mode while the fisher cable is not connected to an (O2 cell) voltage it will void the last calibration. E.g. you removed it from the CCR head to download it or powered on the predator while a Megalodon isolation board was turned off.

The petrel still saves the last calibration. So if you plug the fisher cable back in the petrel manages to read the cell voltages, remember the last calibration, and all is returned to the pre-disconnect state. On the predator you are forced to recalibrate if voltages are not sensed on the fisher cable 100% of the time the predator is powered on.

Is there a way for you to update the predator software to behave like the petrel? Predator's are capable of saving calibrations if the fisher is unplugged and reattached when the unit is turned off, so the internal memory is there. The forced recalibration is not ideal, especially if (worst case) the fisher comes loose on a dive and there's a transient or temporary loss of the cell connections.

Thanks for your time

Richard the behavior that you are describing in your Predator is not normal. The Predator should retain calibration information even if it is powered on while disconnected. It should behave like the Petrel does in this case. We might need to have it sent to our US service center in Snohomish, WA for further investigation.

Ok then! I got it used so figured it was just old fashioned. It will be on its way in Friday after turkey day.
