Has anyone dove on the flower gardens off the coast of Texas in the past 6 months? I'm doing some research and wanted to have an idea of the general health of the Reef before I head out to the Garden Banks

You want to go to Garden Banks, or the Texas Flower Gardens? 2 separate places. @ReefHound crews on the Fling, he can tell you more, but it is the healthiest reef in the world.

Is the Fling still stopping at the oil rigs?

Does it stop at the new wreck?

(Flower) Garden Banks
We are looking at the East and West Banks at the flower gardens-any comments on the general health of the reef system and the animals & fish present is helpful, especially pictures! And any comments about if a part of the reef is looking poor are also valuable

Will be out there this weekend. We still stop at a platform for a dive, depending on conditions.

We have been to the new wreck and was stopping there on the M-W and certain other 3-day trips. We did a few Stetson/wreck 2-day trips but it doesn't fit in on a normal 2-day trip without giving up Stetson or a Bank (which isn't going to happen). The marker buoy went missing and that was before Harvey.

The reefs are quite healthy, as good as any in the Caribbean, aside from a small die-off event on East Bank a year ago. What kind of research?

Do you have a sanctuary permit? Asking for a friend....

This is a rapid response scientific expedition funded by the NSF, all permits have already been acquired. I believe NOAA officials will also be present working on ecological surveys as well...
