Diving accident claims local man

SUGAR GROVE -- A local man died Saturday while diving in Mexico.

*Name removed*, 21, died in a "freak diving accident," according to a spokeswoman for Seaver-Brown Funeral Services in Marion.

His family could not be reached for comment Tuesday night. He was a son of *names removed*

A memorial service will be held Sunday at 2p.m. at the Seaver-Brown Chapel.

That's sad news and heartfelt condolences to the family of the young man.

I wonder what constitutes a "freak diving accident"?
 
i grew up in marion, va. sugar grove is up the road a little ways. very small town, my mom still lives there i will try to get the scoop. keep you guys posted.

from what i hear he was a dive master. he was doing research in mexico by himself and washed up on shore w/ a cut on his head. the parents were told very little info. and the mexican gov't cremated his body so no autopsy was preformed. i can only imagine what the family must be going through.
