Yes i did and this was another hassle. I spoke w/ the manufacture and they said that name wasn't listed. I then gave them the # and they said they cannot query by that (WTF??). Anyway, I did some research and found their other DBA which is a reseller. Apparently many of these amazon 3rd party sellers shield themselves by using different names (What a joke). The company is actually a member here although not active for quite a few years.

I only dive in warm water so unless i'm leaving the country to go diving I'm unable to find salt water to dump my items in just to see if they'll corrode. It's just not feasible for many of us to "test our gear" right away.

Scubamax offers a 1 year warranty. They were 11 months old and in warranty so you see no problem with them putting me aside and stopping replies after they say go to their reseller for an RMA. Then after I wated a month w/o any real response after MANY follow up emails to them and then advising them (Scubamax) of that and having them go silent? I assume you don't run a successful business.

Apparently, and in all fairness to tridacna, the shears you bought are no longer listed on Amazon. They do have one pair listed, which do not look like the pair you have showing, and neither of the reviews for that pair are yours. At least I can't find a pair listed on Amazon like yours. Perhaps a link if it is still there?

Dave, when you respond as a troll would and include personal attacks you lose both sympathy and credibility.

To clarify, assuming your intent isn't trolling, sometimes companies sell 2nds that end up for sale in places like eBay and Amazon. These have no warranty, any issues are between the buyer and seller exclusively. Even cheap stuff has knockoffs, this again is an issue between the buyer and seller, not the alleged manufacturer. Several manufacturers of many different types of products require warranty issues and inquries to go through their dealer network or through the store that sold it.

I don't see any issue with Scubamax asking for an RMA from a verified vendor so they are able to determine if the item is a warrantable item.

They are sold by another company (online scuba) currently. Here is the link with the two reviews I see. You must have come across another somehow. Curious what you found if you wouldn't mind. Perhaps I need to write a review there also. Here is my review: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0084HEZKW/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I am not requesting any sympathy or credibility. I'm attempting to advise other members of the situation I ran into. Nothing anyone here says or does will change the situation. I'm advising others of my situation, knowledge is power and this is what this place is for, no? If I had seen a post like this I would have weighed this information when i made my decision. Like everything posted on the internet you take what you read w/ a grain of salt and I expect everyone who reads this to do the same. All I can do is provide my side of the story and let the consumer come to their own conclusion. I'm not here to do anything except advise others.

I've been here long enough where I don't need to defend my position. Do you think I fabricated the pictures for some personal gain? FWIW, this company advertises themselves as an "Authorized Scubamax dealer w/ FULL manufacturers warranty" right in the invoice so no disputing that either. Scubamax confirmed they are a dealer as well. For anyone to even suggest Scubamax has done nothing wrong is just enabling this type of behavior and exactly why many companies do it. People think it is acceptable and the company gets off scot free. Not with me, my business is 100% support dependant and this type of behavior rubs me wrong as you can tell.

Jeff, I don't think you understand what is going on here.
    1. I sent scubamax the pics
    2. They said get an RMA from dealer
    3. I contacted dealer for a month, they replied once but did not cooperate
    4. I then emailed dealer and cc'd scubamax to advise them that the reseller stopped replying after one email.
    5. Scubamax is requesting and RMA that the non responsive dealer will not even request.
    6. It's been 6 weeks now and I've sent 10+ emails but only have gotten one reply where the dealer says they'd rather have rusty shears rather than ones that don't cut. This clearly is NOT th RMA request that scubamax is requesting.
    7. 6+ weeks later item is now out of warranty and scubamax has not replied in over a week.

I get it. Your experience has informed me that Scubamax and Online Scuba will not stand behind their products. Thanks, I will not buy from them. Your Amazon review will help others as well.

I’m a little shocked that Amazon won’t step in, cause my experience has been that they will always step in, even if it’s a 3rd party reseller if something (anything) is wrong. And 3rd party resellers have always refunded me for fear of tarnishing their reviews as you have posted, even when I haven’t requested a refund! So I suppose this Online Scuba store just doesn’t care.

I think Amazon has irked me as much as this dealer has to be honest. I've been dealing w/ Amazon for a long time and spend a significant amount of money with them. Every person I talk to says something different. For the last three weeks they say they're going to contact the seller and if I don't hear from them within 24-48 hours they will investigate. This has played out about 5 times now. I don't hear from them, contact amazon and get the same BS again. One time they say they'll file and A-to-Z guarantee. I follow up and they say they don't see it. Then that person goes on to tell me after 90 days I cannot file that. So basically their support is about as bad as tier 1 MS support. Amazon keeps falling back on the fact that this is a third party seller. I then proceed to remind them that they are a reseller under Amazon it is their responsibility to take care of these issues but that falls on deaf ears. Sadly amazon has turned into ebay Mk. II. This is sad as I purchase most of our inventory through them due to their fast shipping, price and overall ease. For the most part I try to stay away from anything no supplied and fulfilled by amazon but that is becoming harder and harder to do. IMO it isn't so much about a product failing (It happens). It is how you deal w/ the problems that sets a company apart. Amazon and scubamax have shown their cards.

it was not onlinescuba that I got them from. It was myscubashop on amazon. BTW, also called the # as did scubamax. Left them a VM and they never got back to either of us. Scubamax is ok with that too it appears. It is these guys who don't seem to care about customer service https://www.facebook.com/pg/MyScubaShop/posts/

I’ve always had the utmost confidence in Amazon but now I’m going to be more careful.

Yeah they have changed over the last 5 years. I would say I order at least one item a day and overall I have lost much confidence in them. Returning items fulfilled by them is fine. When not fulfilled by them, not so much. Need to wait for approval from the reseller. Any issue beyond the first 60 days they will not help at all with. So as far as anything w/a longer warranty than 60 days you really need to make sure you are dealing w/ a reputable reseller for higher value items. This is not a high value item which ironically bugs me quite a bit. It probably costs Scubamax $6 to make this item (If that). They could have alleviated all this and made a customer very happy just by shipping this item out to me rather than making me jump through hoops. And now given that they know all of the attempts I've made to contact the reseller they should be sending me 10 of these things just to keep me happy but they'd rather disappear over a cheap item than try to make it right with the missteps of THEIR dealer. Penny wise, pound foolish.

Oddly enough they again stated they were going to do an investigation and today is the day I need to follow up w/ them if the dealer didn't respond (They didn't). I'll make sure to paste what they had to say. I can pretty much guarantee they'll either try to drag this on or say I'm SOL as it's a 3rd party reseller despite them telling me for over a month they'd refund me if the dealer didn't respond. Now he's had about 10 chances to respond, maybe the 11th will be the ticket !! :)
